Welcome to Chengdu, a city famed for its rich history and vibrant culture, and the home of the adorable giant panda. As the gateway to western China, Chengdu offers a perfect blend of ancient traditions and modern charm.
We will kick off our Southwest Cultural Expedition with a warm welcome dinner at the luxurious Niccolo Chengdu. In this elegant setting, you’ll have the chance to meet fellow travelers and share the excitement of the journey ahead.
Our welcome dinner will feature authentic Sichuan cuisine, renowned for its bold and spicy flavors. Every dish is crafted to provide an unforgettable culinary experience. Our CEO will share stories about the history and culture of Southwest China, setting the stage for the adventures to come.
Stay: Niccolo Chengdu
After breakfast, we’ll visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, where you can see these beloved animals up close and learn about conservation efforts. Stroll through lush bamboo forests and observe pandas of all ages in their natural habitat.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore Kuanzhai Alley, a historical district with traditional architecture and lively street scenes. Wander through the narrow alleys, enjoy local snacks, and shop for unique souvenirs. We’ll also have a special Kung Fu tea tasting session, where you can experience the art of traditional Chinese tea-making and savor exquisite flavors.
Dinner will be at a local restaurant, where you’ll enjoy the most famous Sichuan’s culinary ---- Hotpot!. Spend the evening relaxing at the hotel or exploring Chengdu’s vibrant nightlife.
Stay: Jinmao Hyatt Lijiang
After breakfast, we’ll fly to Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved ancient town and stunning natural scenery. Upon arrival, we’ll head to Shuhe Ancient Town, one of the earliest settlements of the Naxi people and a key stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road.
Stroll through the cobbled streets, admire the traditional Naxi architecture, and soak in the serene atmosphere. In the afternoon, you’re free to explore Shuhe at your own pace. Discover hidden courtyards, visit local craft shops, or simply relax by the riverside.
In the evening, we’ll gather for dinner at a restaurant within the ancient town, where you can taste local specialties and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. After dinner, return to the Jinmao Hyatt Lijiang, where you can unwind in luxurious comfort, ready for the adventures to come.
Today, journey from Lijiang to the picturesque Shuanglang Ancient Town in Dali. Here, you'll embark on a scenic cycling tour around Erhai Lake, taking in the stunning landscapes and serene waters. Stop at a local teahouse for a refreshing break and taste some of the region's finest teas. Participate in a hands-on workshop where you’ll craft the famous Yunnan fresh flower cakes, guided by a skilled local artisan. In the evening, stroll freely through the ancient town, admiring the night scenery and tasting an array of local street foods. We will prepare goodnight drink (self-made fruit wine) in the hotel. Where does this trip start and end?
Our journey begins in Chengdu and ends in Shangri-La. We recommend arriving one day early to ensure you are on time for the start of our adventure. On the last day, we return to Shangri-La, so we suggest booking your departure flight for the following day to allow ample time for travel and relaxation.
What travel documents are needed?
Please bring a passport with at least six months of validity remaining to China. Check if you qualify for the visa-free transit policy; if not, obtain a 10-year China visa before traveling. Carry your flight itinerary, and we will also provide proof of your entire travel itinerary before departure.
How many people in a tour?
We specialize in offering high-end boutique tours with a maximum of 6 people per group. This ensures a comfortable and personalized experience for everyone. If you're interested in turning this into a private tour, please contact us via email for more details.
Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement for your trip costs; if your trip plans change for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to get medical help, emergency transport, and for theft, loss or damage of items while traveling. For best coverage, always insure the full trip cost within two weeks of your initial trip deposit and note that most ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ policies must be purchased on the date of your initial deposit.
Do I need to pay a solo traveler supplement?
For solo travelers, there is no single-supplement fee required to secure a private room. You just click the single room option and pay for the entire trip. These spots are extremely limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
